Question:

What did your doctor explain you about the IVIG treatment, and how it is working in our body to eliminate's MG symptoms ?

^Moshe ^{The Autoimmune System is a balanced system that produce
antibodies when the system is under balance. The IVIG we put in our
system, that contain only “Good guys”, cause the system to be “over
balance” and the production of the new antibodies That contain The ”bad
guys” too, is stop because we don't need to try and balance the system.
The final result is the same as the result we get from prednison, Imuran,
Cellcept Etc, BUT without weakening the Autoimmune System. As time
goes by the System return to Unbalance condition, the production of the
“Bad guys” return, we feel it as Mgers and need to get the treatment
again.}

^Connie ^{My neuro told me that when you recevie IVIG your body is
flooded with antibodies and your brain sends a signal to your immune
system to slow down/stop production of its own antibodies because the
system is full so to speak. Since there are lots of antibodies
floating around after the IVIG infusion, my immune system can stop
production. This decrease in production of antibodies by my immune
system decreases/stops the production of the "bad" achr
antibodies. The IVIG also provides me protection by giving me
good antibodies since my immune system is suppressed.}

^Tina ^{He just told me it can help in times of flare ups, I
didn't ask the doc how, but i did ask the nurse who administered it and
she did not really understand it, just some thing about flooding your
system with antibodies}

shot .}

^Jennifer ^{My neuro told me that I was getting flooded with healthy
immune system antibodies. The healthy antibodies would let my system
flow naturally, thereby allowing the neurotransmitters to get through the
synapses.}

^Woody ^{I asked how and why IVIG works and my doctor said they
weren't really sure, but experience showed it helped correct and prevent
the symptoms.}

double crisis, and after a plasmaperisis series with no positive
results.}

^Brian ^{After a number of Plasma pheresis treatments I had
problems with infection of the Central Line, which had to be fitted
because of my poor veins. My doctor explained to me that their was less
risk of infection and as the treatment was not carried out "under
pressure", I didn't need a central line inserted. He also explained
that the Immunoglobulins boosted my immune system which also helps fight
infections as well as slowing down my own immune system and also reducing
the production of the auto-antibodies the bad guys.}
